Job summary

Yassir in Cape Town is seeking a Data Scientist to join our AI team and work on Personalization and Recommendation Engines, shaping ML solutions. You will model data, build predictive features, and deploy ML apps via our MLOps stack, focusing on data quality and measurable impact.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into scalable solutions. This role requires strong Python/SQL, cloud experience (GCP preferred), and the ability to explain complex results to business

Qualifications

• Master-level or higher in a quantitative field (Math/Stats/DS/ML/CS/Software Eng).
• 3+ years of industry experience with production-grade Python and SQL.
• Strong software engineering concepts: profiling, optimization, scalability, testing, cost controls.
• Experience with Personalisation and Evaluation related problems.
• Statistical testing and causal analysis.
• Analytical thinking and problem solving.
• Visualization with Python libraries / Analytics tools.
• Cloud experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) preferred.
• End-to-end ML model development lifecycle mastery.
• Excellent English communication and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Become an expert on your scope, focusing on Personalization and Recommendation Engines.
• Identify ML opportunities and support ML project requirements and prioritization.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Product teams across functions.
• Champion Data Quality as a core input for ML and analytics.
• Conduct Exploratory Data Analysis and feature engineering.
• Train and evaluate ML models and validate results.
• Deploy and monitor ML applications via MLOps infra.
• Explain technical results to business stakeholders and document solutions.
