Job summary

Vodacom is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to own end‑to‑end machine learning/use cases, from problem framing to deployment and monitoring. You will build recommender solutions for Customer Value Management and work on Generative AI patterns to deliver measurable business value.

The role requires strong Python, ML, MLOps, SQL and cloud experience, plus mentoring juniors and collaborating with cross‑functional teams. Based in Midrand, the role is on site."

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field is essential.
• Honours/Master's degree is advantageous.
• 5–8 years of hands-on data science / ML experience.
• Proven track record deploying ML models delivering business impact.
• Strong grounding in CVM, recommender systems and MLOps.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end ML use cases from framing to deployment and monitoring.
• Develop real-world ML products including recommender systems and personalization.
• Implement Generative AI and agentic solutions with measurable business value.
• Design robust experiments and A/B tests to quantify impact.
• Collaborate with CVM, marketing and tech teams; translate business needs to analytics.
