Job summary

FirstRand Limited is seeking a junior data scientist to support senior data scientists and managers in end-to-end model development, implementation, and governance for AML/CFT analytics and sanctions screening.

You will analyse data to identify trends, assist with problem solving, and translate findings into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders while documenting processes and collaborating with cross-functional teams across the FirstRand group.

Qualifications

• Honours degree in a quantitative field is required.
• 1–2 years hands-on data analysis or analytics experience.
• Working knowledge of SAS, SQL and Python.
• Ability to communicate analytical results to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support end-to-end model development, implementation, and governance for financial crime analytics.
• Explore data to identify trends, patterns and potential risks.
• Translate technical analysis into actionable insights for stakeholders.
• Document models and processes clearly and thoroughly.
• Collaborate with business, risk and technology teams across FirstRand group.
