Job summary

Badger Holdings in George, Western Cape, is seeking an experienced Data Scientist to own machine learning projects from data prep to deployment on-site at the George office.

You’ll manage the full ML lifecycle, independently delivering solutions and presenting findings to business teams, with a focus on insurance experience and strong statistical foundations.

Qualifications

• A degree or honours qualification in Data Science.
• At least 5 years’ experience in insurance or financial services.
• At least 5 years of hands-on machine learning experience, covering data preparation through to deployment.
• Proven experience with Python or R, and SQL/Snowflake.
• Experience in claims modelling and survival analysis.
• A strong foundation in statistical modelling and time series forecasting.

At Badger Holdings, we use data to solve practical insurance challenges. We’re looking for an experienced Data Scientist who can take ownership of machine learning projects and turn business questions into solutions that work in practice.

About The Role

You’ll manage the full machine learning lifecycle, from preparing data and developing models to deployment, monitoring and ongoing improvement. You’ll work independently, take responsibility for your solutions and present findings clearly to business teams.

What You’ll Do
