Job summary

Communicate Recruitment in Cape Town seeks a Data Scientist to turn complex data into actionable insights, build ML and predictive analytics models, and deliver dashboards that illuminate business opportunities.

You will collaborate with stakeholders to address real-world challenges, design robust statistical models, and monitor performance while staying ahead of trends in Data Science and AI.

Qualifications

• 4+ years hands-on Data Science, Advanced Analytics or ML roles
• Strong Python (Pandas/NumPy) and data science library experience
• Proven experience building, deploying and maintaining ML models in production
• Advanced SQL skills with large, complex datasets
• Solid knowledge of statistics, predictive modelling, hypothesis testing and data mining
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP)
• Hands-on data visualization with Power BI/Tableau
• Exposure to Databricks, Spark, Hadoop or distributed computing
• Experience with feature engineering, model evaluation and monitoring
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders
• Experience in Agile environments and cross-functional teams

Job Experience and Skills Required:

• Minimum 4+ years of hands-on experience in Data Science, Advanced Analytics, or Machine Learning roles


• Strong proficiency in Python, including Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, and related data science libraries


• Proven experience building, deploying, and maintaining machine learning models in production environments


• Advanced SQL skills with experience querying and analysing large, complex datasets


• Solid understanding of statistics, predictive modelling, hypothesis testing, and data mining techniques


• Experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP


• Hands-on experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms


• Exposure to Big Data technologies including Databricks, Spark, Hadoop, or distributed computing environments


• Experience with feature engineering, model evaluation, optimisation, and performance monitoring


• Strong understanding of data wrangling, ETL processes, and data quality best practices


• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
