Job summary
Vodacom seeks a Platform Engineering Lead to own and evolve the data platform, ensuring reliability and cost-efficient operation across markets. You will lead a team of platform engineers, set the technical direction, and partner with data science and delivery squads to provide a stable foundation for analytics and ML workloads.
You will drive platform strategy, oversee ingestion and transformation pipelines, enforce IaC/CI-CD, and mentor engineers while coordinating with data architects and ML
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or related discipline.
- 7+ years in data or software engineering, including 3–5 years leading engineering teams.
- Proven delivery and operation of production data platforms at scale on AWS.
- Demonstrable people-leadership track record: hiring, developing and retaining engineers.
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the data platform roadmap aligned to strategy and AI pillars.
- Lead platform engineering delivery with PI and sprint planning.
- Enforce engineering standards: IaC, CI/CD, tests, reviews and docs.
- Ensure platform reliability, observability and incident management.
- Build and retain engineering capability; manage costs and governance.
