Job summary

Datonomy Solutions is seeking a Data Engineer to design, build and maintain data pipelines, models and warehouse structures. The role focuses on trusted data delivery to analysts and stakeholders across the Group, with hands-on Microsoft BI engineering and dashboard development.

You will own data quality, governance and production support, ensuring scalable analytics solutions with compliance considerations and robust testing throughout the development lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Three-year IT degree or diploma required.
• At least five years' experience designing and developing data pipelines.
• Advanced SQL with hands-on Microsoft SQL Server experience.
• Advanced knowledge of SSMS, SSIS and SSAS.
• Experience with dimensional modelling, ETL/ELT and data warehousing.
• Hands-on dashboard design in Power BI, Tableau or Pyramid.
• Understanding of data governance, reporting tools and data types.
• Testing experience (unit/integration/regression).

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain robust ETL and ELT pipelines within our data platform.
• Develop scalable dimensional models and data-warehouse structures for analytics and reporting.
• Implement data-quality, validation and monitoring controls and resolve production-pipeline issues.
• Apply data-governance, security and compliance practices, including POPIA requirements.

The Data Engineer will design, build and maintain pipelines, data models and warehouse structures that make trusted data available to analysts and stakeholders across the Group. The role requires hands‑on Microsoft BI engineering, dashboard development and strong ownership of data quality, governance and production support.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain robust ETL and ELT pipelines within our data platform.
• Develop and continuously improve scalable dimensional models and data-warehouse structures for analytics and reporting.
• Implement data-quality, validation and monitoring controls and resolve production-pipeline issues.
• Apply data-governance, security and compliance practices, including relevant POPIA requirements.
• Translate business and analytics requirements into reliable, maintainable data solutions.
• Conduct unit, integration and regression testing before release.
• Document pipelines, models, data definitions and operational processes to ensure supportability and reuse.
• Design and build dashboards that communicate trusted insights to business stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant three-year IT or related degree or diploma.
• At least five years' experience designing and developing data pipelines.
• Advanced SQL and strong hands‑on Microsoft SQL Server experience.
• Advanced working knowledge of SSMS, SSIS and SSAS.
• Practical dimensional-modelling, ETL/ELT and data-warehousing experience.
• Hands‑on dashboard design and development in Power BI, Tableau or Pyramid.
• Understanding of data governance, reporting tools and structured and unstructured data.
• Practical unit, integration and regression-testing experience.
