Job summary

Nedbank is seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join our Personal and Private Banking division. You will design, develop, and optimise data solutions across enterprise data platforms and data warehouses to enable trusted, high-quality information for decision-making.

You will build robust data pipelines, improve data governance, and collaborate with stakeholders, analysts, and technology teams in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering or related data environments.
• Experience designing, developing and supporting enterprise-scale data solutions.
• Strong hands-on SQL, data modelling and ETL/ELT experience.
• Experience translating business requirements into scalable data solutions.
• Experience working with large and complex datasets across multiple sources.
• Experience implementing data governance, metadata, lineage and quality standards.

Job Purpose

Minimum Experience Level

• Proven experience designing, developing and supporting enterprise-scale data solutions.
• Strong hands-on experience with SQL development, query optimisation, data modelling, and ETL/ELT processes.
• Experience translating business requirements into scalable data solutions and actionable insights.
• Experience working with large and complex datasets across multiple source systems.
• Experience implementing and maintaining data governance, metadata, lineage, and quality standards.
• Exposure to cloud-based data platforms and modern data engineering frameworks.
• Experience working within Agile delivery environments and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Experience within a banking, financial services, or other regulated environment will be advantageous
