Job summary

Skywaves Rise is hiring an Azure Data Engineer in Sandton, Johannesburg, working on-site for a 12-month renewable contract. You will lead Azure data projects, build scalable ETL pipelines, and ensure data quality across the data warehouse.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in data roles, 3–4 years at expert level in Azure Data Engineer capabilities, and strong T-SQL/SQL skills. Proficiency in Python for ETL development with Databricks, automated tests for data pipelines, and experience with Data

Qualifications

• 7+ years total experience in data roles with expert Azure Data Engineer capabilities.
• Excellent data analysis and exploration using T-SQL.
• Proficient Python for ETL development and data wrangling, especially in Databricks.
• Experience writing automated tests for data pipelines.
• Strong SQL programming (stored procedures, functions).
• Knowledge of data warehouse modelling methodologies (Kimball, dimensional modelling, Data Vault 2.0).
• Azure experience with Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse Analytics, ADLS Gen2.
• Experience building robust and performant ETL processes using Azure data products and MS Fabric.
• Experience using source control & ADO.
• Experience using source control and Azure DevOps (ADO).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Azure-based data pipelines and ETL processes.
• Optimize data models and warehousing solutions for performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with data analysts and stakeholders to ensure data quality and accessibility.

Job Spec

• Total Exp should be 7+ Years and into Azure Data Engineer at-least 3 to 4 years expert level experience into Azure Data Engineer

• Proficiency in Python for ETL development and data wrangling, especially in Databricks.
