Job summary

Zutari is seeking a Design Manager to lead the Data Centre design delivery from Cape Town or Tshwane offices. You will head multidisciplinary teams, ensure design quality, and align with client requirements and enterprise standards.

Lead with purpose, manage risk, and drive fast-track delivery while maintaining sustainable, scalable and innovative solutions for mission-critical facilities.

Qualifications

• BEng/BSc Eng in engineering; Pr.Eng with ECSA is required.
• Postgraduate qualification in Mechanical/Electrical/Building Services is advantageous.
• Continued professional development in cooling, data centres or related fields is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Own the full design lifecycle from concept to IFC with coordinated outputs.
• Lead multidisciplinary integration across Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, CSA and OEM disciplines.
• Maintain scope clarity, design intent continuity and disciplined change control.
• Manage design schedule, milestones, risk and cost implications under fast-track conditions.
• Collaborate with BIM Manager on digital model coordination and QA/QC processes.
• Interface with clients, OEMs, consultants and authorities to secure timely decisions.
