Job summary

iOCO in Johannesburg is seeking an experienced Data Architect to design and scale cloud data platforms using Azure and Databricks. You will shape enterprise data architecture, govern data quality, and partner with engineers, data scientists, and BI teams in a hybrid, contract-enabled environment.

You will lead architecture of Data Lake, Data Warehouse, and Lakehouse solutions while ensuring security, metadata management, and governance across an enterprise-scale data landscape.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Data Architecture, Data Engineering, or Data Platform environments.

As the Data Architect, you will:

What We’re Looking ForEssential Experience

• 8+ years of experience in Data Architecture, Data Engineering, or Data Platform environments
• 5+ years working with Microsoft Azure technologies
• 3+ years architecting Databricks-based solutions
• Proven experience designing enterprise-scale cloud data platforms
• Strong expertise in Lakehouse, Data Lake, and Data Warehouse architectures
• Deep understanding of data modelling, governance, security, and integration patterns

Nice to Have

• Telecommunications industry experience
• Experience with real-time streaming architectures
• Financial Services, Retail, or eCommerce industry exposure
• TOGAF, Azure, Databricks, or CDMP certifications

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field
• Relevant Azure and Databricks certifications highly advantageous
