About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Data Analyst to support their remote mining operations, working from anywhere. This is a fully remote position focused on leveraging data to drive operational efficiencies, improve safety, and optimize resource extraction. You will work closely with geologists, engineers, and management teams to collect, analyze, and interpret vast amounts of data generated from exploration, mining, and processing activities. The ideal candidate is proficient in data analysis tools and techniques, with a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of the mining lifecycle. This role offers the flexibility of remote work while providing significant impact on strategic decision-making for the company's diverse mining interests across various locations, including insights relevant to the Stellenbosch region's industrial context.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect, clean, and organize large datasets from various sources within the mining operations.
• Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to visualize key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production, safety, and costs.
• Perform statistical analysis to identify trends, patterns, and areas for operational improvement.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their data needs and provide actionable insights.
• Utilize data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Python, R, SQL, Tableau, Power BI) to derive meaningful conclusions.
• Contribute to the development of data-driven strategies for optimizing mining exploration and production processes remotely.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mining Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Data Analyst , preferably within the mining or resources sector .
• Proficiency in SQL for data querying and manipulation.
• Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and statistical software (e.g., R, Python).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate complex findings clearly.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively in a remote work environment , supporting operations that may include areas like Stellenbosch .
