Job summary

SPARK Schools is seeking a data and BI professional to design, build, and analyse data across academic, financial, and operational systems. You will deliver trusted data pipelines, insights, and actionable recommendations to inform decisions across the network.

You will build and maintain Azure-based data lakes and warehouses for scalable reporting, ensure data quality, and translate technical results for school principals.

Qualifications

• Degree required in statistics, data, computer science, or related field.
• 4–6 years of data analysis or BI experience.
• Working knowledge of at least one Azure-delivered project and Power BI.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and Power BI.
• Curiosity about Azure and AI in BI.
• Strong data quality and ability to reconcile dashboard numbers.
• Ability to translate between technical queries and discussions with school principals.
• End-to-end delivery ownership and peer review participation.
• Systemic approach to fixing underlying data pipelines.
• Strong English, written and spoken; additional SA languages advantageous.
• SAPS clearance certificate required; clear criminal record.
• Microsoft certifications advantageous.

• Provide business stakeholders with analysis, insight, and clear recommendations beyond dashboards
• Maintain data quality, consistency, and documentation across school-wide datasets
• Continuously improve reporting and analytics processes to reduce manual effort and increase self-service capability
• Report to the Business Intelligence & Analytics Manager

Requirements

• Degree in statistics, data, computer science, or a related field
• 4–6 years in data analysis or business intelligence
• Working knowledge of at least one project delivered on Azure and Power BI
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and Power BI
• Curiosity about Azure and AI-in-BI
• Strong attention to data quality and ability to reconcile dashboard numbers
• Ability to translate between technical queries and discussions with school principals
• Ability to own delivery end-to-end and participate in peer review
• Systemic approach to fixing underlying data pipelines
• Strong command of English, written and spoken
• Additional South African language advantageous
