Cyber Security Analyst – VAPT | Pretoria | Permanent
Our client is looking for an Intermediate Cyber Security Analyst – VAPT to join their Offensive Security / Managed Security Services team in Pretoria. This is a hands-on opportunity for a technically driven cyber security professional who enjoys identifying vulnerabilities, conducting penetration tests and turning technical findings into clear, actionable security insights.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configure, execute and manage vulnerability scanning and assessment cycles across client and internal environments.
- Identify weaknesses in systems and applications, validate findings and eliminate false positives.
- Conduct penetration tests against systems, networks and applications to identify exploitable vulnerabilities.
- Chain findings into realistic attack paths rather than simply reporting isolated issues.
- Work with internal teams and client stakeholders to confirm impact and support remediation.
- Maintain accurate records of testing activity, scope, methodology and supporting evidence.
- Produce clear, defensible reports and executive summaries for management, senior staff and clients.
- Ensure findings are reproducible, traceable and properly documented.
- Assist with the management, configuration and maintenance of security testing tools.
- Keep tool configurations, signatures and scanning policies current and fit for purpose.
- Track emerging cyber security threats, techniques and technologies.
- Continuously develop technical capabilities through training, practical labs and self-study.
- Work closely with team members and other departments across client engagements and internal projects.
- Experience in Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing (VAPT) or a related cyber security environment.
- Working knowledge of offensive security and assessment tools, including:
- Tenable Nessus
- NetSparker
- Burp Suite
- Kali Linux
- Nmap
- Metasploit
- Rapid7
- Qualys
- OSINT
- Understanding of WAFs, firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems.
- Knowledge of vulnerability identification and penetration testing techniques, frameworks and methodologies.
- Solid networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, common network protocols and standard network architectures.
- Familiarity with Linux and Windows command-line environments.
- Ability to communicate technical findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong critical and creative thinking when dealing with complex security problems.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Meticulous attention to detail when documenting findings and following procedures.
- Strong ethical integrity and professional conduct.
Required Qualifications:
- CompTIA A+
- CompTIA Network+
- CompTIA Security+
- CompTIA PenTest+
Advantageous:
- Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) certification.
- Exposure to ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO 9001 environments.
- Practical experience with Hack The Box and TryHackMe.
