Job summary

The South African Reserve Bank invites applications for an executive leadership role in the Business Solutions and Technology Department (BSTD). You will translate IT strategy into disciplined execution across operations, engineering, platforms, applications, and infrastructure.

You will drive engineering maturity, DevSecOps, platform engineering and observability while managing risk, cost and vendor partnerships to support SARB’s mission.

Qualifications

• Honours degree in IT, Information Systems or Engineering (or equivalent NQF8).
• Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
• Minimum 12 years’ IT experience with at least 5 years in general management.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for BSTD IT operations, including infrastructure, development, security and governance.
• Drive delivery excellence, operational resilience, automation and cost optimisation.
• Oversee staff, performance, and alignment of technology delivery with business priorities.
• Develop IT strategic and tactical goals, policies and governance frameworks (COBIT, CMMI).
• Build engineering discipline with secure-by-design practices, DevSecOps, testing and release management.
• Foster relationships with stakeholders and manage vendor partnerships.
• Ensure disaster recovery planning and business continuity for IT services.
