Job summary

The role requires 1–2 years of hospital experience, NQF level 4 certification, and a CSSD CPD course, with a focus on maintaining infection control and sterile procedures.

Qualifications

• NQF: 4 Certification is required.
• CSSD CPD Course is required.
• 1-2 years hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure infection prevention standard operating procedures are applied consistently and effectively.
• Keep a tidy, clean and uncluttered work area at all times to promote effective task completion.
• Test the autoclave daily as a quality control measure to ensure sterilization of equipment.
• Escalate any autoclave problems to the Line Manager / Unit Manager for maintenance and resolution.
• Ensure cleaning and sterilization of all equipment and materials for procedures per SOPs and health and safety requirements.
• Continuously re-sterilize equipment and materials as required.
• Prepare cleaning solutions for daily cleaning and disinfection of instruments per manufacturing criteria.
• Ensure hygienic and sterile packaging and sealing of theatre equipment per SOPs and ensure sterilization indicators are present on each pack.

JOB SUMMARY

To supply medication efficiently and professionally to patients, wards and theatre. The incumbent, under the supervision of a registered Pharmacist, prepares prescriptions, selects and compounds medication and accurately labels medication before dispensing.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications

• NQF: 4 Certification.
• CSSD CPD Course.

• 1-2 years' hospital experience.

DELIVERABLES

• Ensure that infection prevention standard operating procedures are applied consistently and effectively.
• Ensure a tidy, clean and uncluttered work area at all times in order to promote effective task completion.
• Accurately test the autoclave (as a quality control measure) on a daily basis to ensure it effectively sterilizes equipment and to eliminate contingencies in theatre.
• Escalate any problems with the autoclave to Line Manager / Unit Manager for maintenance and resolution.
• Ensure the cleaning and sterilization of all equipment and materials in preparation for procedures and according to standard operating procedures and health and safety requirements.
• Continuously re-sterilize equipment and materials, as and when required.
• Correctly prepare all cleaning solutions required for the daily cleaning and disinfecting of instruments, as per manufacturing criteria.
• Ensure the hygienic and sterile packaging and sealing of any theatre equipment or prosthesis according to standard operating procedures.
• Ensure that the sterilization indicator is present on every pack and that every pack is correctly marked.
