We're pioneering what online education looks like in the age of AI. Now we want someone to pioneer what AI-first creative execution looks like too.
This is that role — and there is no playbook for it yet.
NGL builds AI-powered executive education courses with the world's leading universities. Our AI-guided courses have achieved NPS scores of 85+. We're a team of 15 doing what would traditionally require a much larger organisation.
Founded by Sam Paddock, co-founder of GetSmarter (acquired by 2U/NASDAQ for $103M). Our thesis: great people + generative AI = outsized results. That applies to our product and how we work.
The Creative Technologist sits at the intersection of creativity, design, production, and technology. This is a new role; we're not replacing anyone, and we don't have a playbook for it. What we have is a product people genuinely love, partnerships with top brands, and a growing library of content, campaigns, and digital surfaces that need to look as good as what we're teaching.
You'll own the visual and creative standard across everything NGL produces: ads, landing pages, email campaigns, the website, course assets, sales collateral, and the tools we use internally. You'll also build — lightweight internal tools, HubSpot page implementations, prototypes. You won't just make things look better. You'll build the workflows and systems that make the whole team more creative.
You'll work directly with our Growth & AI Enablement Director. Where specialist execution is needed, you'll brief and direct outsourced graphic designers and videographers. But design decisions don't get outsourced; they stay with you.
Not "overseeing" or "directing". You sit down and produce excellent graphic design and UX/UI work yourself. You have taste and the craft to back it up. Your portfolio shows both. The path you took to get here — agency, in-house, freelance, building your own products — matters less than the evidence that you can execute at a high standard without needing someone else to make the design decisions.
You understand production processes from the inside. You know what a good brief looks like, what happens when you don't have one, and how to work across creative, production, and technical teams without losing the thread. You've operated in environments where quality mattered and speed was also required — and you've figured out how to hold both.
Not "curious about AI" — you actually use it. To generate and iterate visual concepts. To build things in tools like Lovable, Bolt, or v0. To train models on brand guidelines and create prompt systems that produce consistent, on-brand outputs. To compress a production pipeline that used to take days into hours. If you're not already doing this, this isn't the role.
You don't wait for a developer when a no-code tool or an AI-generated HTML page can get it done. You're comfortable taking code — whether you wrote it, Claude wrote it, or it came from somewhere else — and implementing it in HubSpot without breaking things. You build prototypes. You ship. You document what you build so other people can use it.
You spot gaps and act on them without being asked. You don't need a fully scoped brief to start. You get genuine satisfaction from seeing something you built become something other people use daily. You've started something from scratch before — a project, a function, a workflow — and you know what that actually takes.
A one-off ad is an output. A workflow that produces a full launch asset suite in 48 hours is a system. You want to build the system. You think about how to enable the people around you to produce better creative work, not just how to produce good work yourself.
In the interest of honesty, this probably isn't right if:
NGL is at the point where the quality of what we produce is either going to become a competitive advantage or a liability. The right person in this role changes that trajectory; not by working harder, but by building the creative systems and standards that scale with us.
You'll work directly with the founding team, set the visual standard for a company partnered with top tier universities, and do it at an organisation that is genuinely proving a new model for professional education.
