Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Costume Designer for theatre, film, or television, with a strong portfolio.
  • Excellent knowledge of fashion history, textiles, garment construction, and dyeing techniques.
  • Proficiency in sketching and rendering costume designs.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with directors, production teams, and actors.
  • Strong organizational skills and experience managing costume budgets and schedules.
  • A degree in Fashion Design, Theatre Design, or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Research historical periods, cultural influences, and character archetypes to inform design choices.

This role requires a deep understanding of fabrics, construction techniques, historical fashion, and theatrical demands. You will collaborate closely with directors, actors, and the wardrobe department to ensure costumes enhance the narrative and visual impact of each performance, contributing to the vibrant arts and culture scene in Gauteng .
