Job summary

Famous Brands seeks a cost accounting professional to manage BOM variances and analyze item-level profitability, driving costing accuracy across the plant.

You will partner with Procurement and production to model costs, forecast budgets, and deliver daily/weekly cost reports and KPI tracking to support strategic decisions.

Qualifications

• Costing qualification and tertiary degree aligned to the job requirements.
• Minimum of 3 years commercial accounting experience.
• Proficient with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate Revenue and Cost of Sales insights by managing BOM variances and profitability analysis at item level.
• Conduct variance analysis between standard and actual costs.
• Budgeting and forecasting for cost and selling prices, including modelling and analysis.

Introduction

Provide the business with accurate Revenue and Cost of Sales insights by managing Bill of Materials (BOM) variances and analyzing profitability at item level.

Duties & Responsibilities

Financial Management

• Provide the business with accurate Revenue and Cost of Sales insights by managing Bill of Materials (BOM) variances and analyzing profitability at item level.
• Conduct variance analysis by identifying and investigating differences between standard and actual costs.
• Cost and Selling price management budgeting and forecasting, including modelling and analysis.
• Perform comprehensive profitability analyses across all products to identify opportunities or corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Procurement on risk management to ensure supplier pricing supports overall company profitability.
• Support business units with the processing and costing of assemblies.
• Prepare and distribute daily sales reports.
• Produce weekly and monthly cost analysis reports to support decision-making.
• Identify cost-reduction, automation, and continuous improvement opportunities across the plant.
• Track and interpret KPIs such as OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), scrap and waste levels, production uptime, cost per unit, and margin trends.
• Drive improvements in costing accuracy, financial processes, ERP utilisation, and plant reporting.
• Provide support to divisions by managing and participating in ad-hoc projects as required.
• Demonstrates strong commercial acumen through effective calculation of trading terms, discounts, rebates, and promotional agreements and improved financial performance.

Analysis

• Analyse product-level profitability, including raw material impacts, process costs, shrinkage, customer profitability and efficiency KPIs.

Support Business Strategy

• Support company vision and mission.
• Deliver on KPI's.
• Own and manage BOMS integrity and accuracy, while always investigating opportunities to improve profitability.
• Investigate opportunities to improve controls automate processes, reporting and tasks.
• Deliver on Individual / team goals

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Costing qualification, appropriate tertiary qualification aligned to the job requirements
• Minimum of 3 years commercial accounting experience.
• Must be computer literate - MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, ERP.
• Report writing (BI) - beneficial.
