Placements24 is seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our manufacturing operations team in Richards Bay. The role focuses on analyzing production costs, managing inventory valuation, and contributing to pricing strategies, balancing office-based analysis with on-site factory floor engagement.

You will collaborate with production, engineering, and finance to improve cost-efficiency, prepare budgets, monitor variances, and support informed operational decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• CIMA or CMA qualification desirable.
• 3-5 years in a cost accounting role, preferably within manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, inventory valuation methods, and overhead allocation.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and analyze cost accounting systems and records.
• Monitor manufacturing expenses, identify variances, and propose cost-saving measures.
• Manage inventory valuation, including standard costing, cycle counting, and physical inventory.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts related to production costs and overheads.
• Analyze product profitability and provide cost information for pricing decisions.
• Collaborate with the operations team to improve processes and reduce waste.
