Job summary

Tsebo Solutions Group is seeking an experienced Cook for a busy contract catering environment in Gauteng. You will prepare, cook and present meals per approved menus, while ensuring quality, portion control and strict hygiene standards.

You will support stock management, minimize wastage and assist with serving when needed. The role requires reliability, teamwork and the ability to work overtime, weekends and holidays as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience as a Cook within a contract catering environment.
• Solid knowledge of food safety, hygiene and HSE standards.
• Ability to follow recipes, menus and operational instructions accurately.
• Strong time management and organisational skills.
• Reliable, punctual and committed to service delivery.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and present meals according to approved menus and recipes.
• Ensure food is prepared and served in line with quality and portion control standards.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene, health and safety, and food safety at all times.
• Assist with stock receiving, storage, stock rotation, and stock counts.
• Minimise food wastage and ensure efficient use of ingredients.
• Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, equipment, and work areas.
• Follow all company policies, procedures, and operational standards.
• Assist with serving meals when required.
• Report equipment faults, shortages, and operational concerns to the supervisor.
• Support the catering team to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and public holidays when operationally required.
• Must be willing and able to work rotational day and night shifts.

Skills and Competencies

• Ability to work in a high-volume, mass production kitchen environment.
• Experience assisting with functions, events, and special catering requirements.
