Placements24 is seeking a proficient Control Systems Engineer to join our East London team in South Africa. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining automated control systems for manufacturing processes to boost efficiency and reliability.

You will work with operations personnel to develop advanced control strategies, troubleshoot issues, and ensure safety standards are met. A strong background in PLC/SCADA and instrumentation is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Mechatronic Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial control systems engineering.
• Proficiency with major PLC platforms (Siemens S7, Allen-Bradley ControlLogix) and HMI/SCADA software.
• Strong understanding of automation principles, robotics, and industrial networking.
• Experience with VFDs and servo systems.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and commission PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for industrial automation.
• Develop and optimize control algorithms and logic to improve process performance and throughput.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with existing control systems, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Specify and select appropriate instrumentation and control hardware.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers and operations personnel to integrate control systems into plant machinery.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation, including control logic, wiring diagrams, and operational manuals.
