About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Automation Electrical Engineer to join their growing team in East London . This role is central to designing, implementing, and maintaining automated systems that drive efficiency and productivity in their manufacturing operations. You will work closely with production and engineering teams to develop innovative solutions for process control and automation challenges. The ideal candidate possesses strong expertise in PLCs, HMI, robotics, and industrial networks, and is passionate about leveraging technology to optimize industrial processes within the Eastern Cape.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, program, and commission automated control systems using PLCs, HMIs, and industrial networks.
• Develop electrical schematics and control panel layouts for automation projects.
• Troubleshoot and maintain existing automation systems to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define automation requirements and develop solutions.
• Implement and test new automation technologies, including robotics and vision systems.
• Ensure all automation designs comply with safety standards and best practices.

Requirements

• B.Eng or B.Sc in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in industrial automation and control systems engineering.
• Proficiency in programming and configuring PLCs (e.g., Siemens S7, Allen-Bradley ControlLogix).
• Experience with HMI development and industrial networking protocols (e.g., Profinet, Ethernet/IP).
• Knowledge of robotics programming and VFD configuration is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
