Job summary

Herotel Telecoms (Pty) Ltd in Phalaborwa seeks a Contractor Coordinator to lead contractor teams, manage daily operations, and ensure health, deployment, and maintenance of network infrastructure from POP to customer premises.

You will translate strategic goals into monthly and daily plans, drive service quality, coach teams, and report on KPIs while upholding Herotel standards and values.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 qualification.
• Minimum 5 years’ telecoms field/operational experience.
• Strong network infrastructure knowledge and Herotel standards.
• Proven leadership and contractor management experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel.
• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own the physical network infrastructure within your area.
• Ensure deployment, health and maintenance at customer premises.
• Act as custodian of the network from POP to customer.
• Partner with Area Manager to own the customer experience.
• Translate business goals into monthly and daily plans.
• Participate in Level-2 MOS collaboration to resolve flow and operational challenges.
• Lead contractor teams with daily execution plans and resources.
• Report on KPIs and contractor performance statistics.
• Coach contractors to meet Herotel standards.
• Run daily Level-1 MOS meetings and resolve triggers.
• Align area ops with regional and national strategies.
• Lead contractor teams in line with Herotel values and standards.

Are you a technically strong leader who thrives in operational environments and field execution? Join our Networks team as a Contractor Coordinator in Phalaborwa, where you’ll take ownership of network infrastructure performance in your assigned area and ensure contractors deliver high-quality installations and field support in line with Herotel standards.

The key purpose of this role is to manage and develop contractor teams, oversee daily operational execution, and ensure the health, deployment, and maintenance of network infrastructure from POP to customer premises.

What you’ll do:

• Take responsibility for the physical network infrastructure within your assigned area
• Ensure correct deployment, health, and maintenance of infrastructure and installations at customer premises
• Act as custodian of the network from POP to the customer’s internal network
• Partner with the Area Manager to own the customer’s experience on the network
• Convert business and tactical goals into clear monthly and daily operational plans
• Participate in Level-2 Value Chain MOS collaboration to resolve flow and operational challenges
• Manage contractor teams by ensuring:
  • Daily execution plans are developed, shared, and executed
  • Resources such as tools, vehicles, equipment, and safety protocols are available
  • Clear activity lists and expectations are communicated
  • Performance is measured using KPIs (SQSCT) and QC protocols
• Report on KPIs, metrics, and contractor performance statistics
• Implement and uphold partnership agreements with customer and supplier teams
• Coach and train contractor teams to execute work to Herotel standards
• Facilitate daily Level-1 MOS meetings and resolve identified triggers
• Align area operations with regional and national network strategies
• Lead contractor teams in accordance with Herotel values and operational standards

What you’ll need:

• Grade 12 qualification
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a telecommunications technical environment
• Strong understanding of network infrastructure and Herotel operational standards
• Proven leadership and contractor management experience
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to manage stress and lead under pressure
• Strong planning, organising, leading, and control skills
• Analytical thinking and sound problem-solving abilityDecision-making and sound judgment capability
