Qualifications

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Construction Contracts Manager to oversee contract administration and management for projects in the Soweto and surrounding Gauteng areas. You will be responsible for managing all contractual aspects of construction projects, from tender stage through to final completion. This includes drafting, negotiating, and enforcing contracts, managing claims, and ensuring compliance with all terms and conditions. Your role is crucial in mitigating contractual risks and ensuring that projects are delivered profitably and according to agreed terms. This hybrid position allows for a balance of on-site engagement and office-based responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end process of contract administration for construction projects, including tender preparation and adjudication.
• Negotiate contract terms and conditions with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure favorable agreements.
• Monitor contract performance, identify potential breaches or disputes, and develop strategies for resolution.
• Manage the claims process, including assessment, negotiation, and documentation of variations and claims.
• Ensure compliance with all contractual obligations, legal requirements, and company policies.
• Liaise with project managers, legal counsel, and other stakeholders on contractual matters.

Requirements

• A degree in Law, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in construction contract management and administration.
• In-depth knowledge of South African contract law, FIDIC, and JBCC forms of contract.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and dispute resolution skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a meticulous attention to detail.
