Job summary

Rosebank College is seeking a lecturer in Computer Science to teach, track student progress, prepare assessments, and collaborate with the Central Academic Team to evaluate module results.

The ideal candidate holds an honours or higher in CS/IT, with lecturing experience and relevant industry exposure. The role involves engaging with students and updating LMS within a dynamic academic environment.

Qualifications

• Ideal: Bachelor of Science Honours/Masters in Computer Science or Master of Science in Computer Science or Doctoral (DPhil / PhD) in Computer Science.
• Alternatively: A relevant Honours degree, postgraduate diploma, master's degree or doctoral degree in IT, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering or Computer Engineering.
• Lecturing/tutoring experience: ideally 2 years or more lecturing modules with a computer science component.
• Work experience: preferably 1 year or more as a software engineer.
• One NQF level higher than the qualification being taught.

Responsibilities

• Deliver lectures and engage students based on module-specific requirements in line with module pacers.
• Manage resources including academic materials and consulting with the Information Centre.
• Update learning management system and provide feedback to students.
• Engage and prepare students for assessments, identify at-risk students, and develop assessments in accordance with Central Academic Team briefings.
• Monitor student engagement and assessment submission with relevant escalation.
• Attend and participate in academic meetings across all faculties.
• Reflect on, review, and analyse student module results.
• Support the monitoring of at-risk students in modules assigned to lecture.
• Academic professional development: complete planned interventions per academic cycle to improve teaching-learning practice.
