Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Computational Biologist to join its fully remote R&D team, focusing on large-scale genomics data analysis to drive discovery and support drug development.

You will build and optimize pipelines for WGS, exome and RNA-seq data, apply statistics and machine learning, and collaborate with experimental biologists to interpret results and inform follow-up experiments.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master's in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Genetics, CS or related field.
• Proven experience analyzing large-scale genomics data (NGS).
• Proficiency with Python or R and bioinformatics libraries.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Computational Biologist to join their innovative, fully remote research and development team. This role focuses on the analysis of large-scale genomics datasets to drive biological discovery and support drug development efforts. Key Responsibilities

• Analyze next-generation sequencing (NGS) data, including whole-genome, exome, and RNA-seq data, to identify genetic variants and gene expression patterns.
• Develop and implement computational pipelines for processing, analyzing, and visualizing genomic data.
• Collaborate with experimental biologists to interpret results and design follow-up experiments.
• Utilize statistical methods and machine learning techniques to extract meaningful insights from complex biological datasets.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or Master's degree in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Genetics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Proven experience in analyzing large-scale genomics datasets, particularly NGS data.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or R, and experience with relevant bioinformatics tools and libraries.
• Strong understanding of statistical principles and machine learning concepts.
• Experience with command-line environments (Linux/Unix) and high-performance computing clusters.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and effective communication abilities for remote collaboration.
