Job summary

Prime South Africa is seeking a Compliance Junior Manager to lead a team of compliance professionals, strengthening governance and risk controls in a dynamic insurance environment. You will partner with operations to identify risks, oversee the compliance programme, and drive corrective actions, reporting on risk trends, control effectiveness and assurance outcomes.

Qualifications

• A completed Degree in one of the following: BCom, LLB, Risk Management, Compliance or related field is essential.
• Proficient Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, reporting, data analysis and dashboard creation.
• Experience interpreting and analysing large datasets to identify trends, control weaknesses and emerging risks. Power BI reporting and dashboard development skills would be advantageous.
• Excellent writing, reporting and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of Compliance Professionals, ensuring consistency, quality and completeness of compliance reviews, monitoring activities, risk assessments and corrective action management.
• Oversee Annual Compliance Plan activities, ensuring on-time delivery and quality.
• Identify and reduce significant compliance, legal, operational and governance risks; monitor corrective actions and risk reduction outcomes.
• Review compliance testing and audit work.
• Analyse findings and escalate risks.
• Monitor corrective actions across the organisation and report residual risk exposure.
• Collaborate with business leaders to implement controls and improve processes.
• Prepare management reports and recommendations on compliance performance and risk trends.
• Monitor emerging risks and control failures to identify deterioration and opportunities for improvement.
• Monitor contract obligations, governance requirements, SLA dates, renewal timelines and supplier/commercial obligations.
• Develop dashboards and reporting packs for management and executives.
• Continuously improve compliance methodologies, monitoring approaches, and business processes to strengthen governance.
• Provide coaching and training to Compliance Professionals and develop training materials.
• Review policies, procedures, contracts, marketing initiatives and proposals to ensure regulatory compliance while supporting commercial objectives.
• Maintain compliance records, risk registers, corrective action trackers and governance reporting.
