Job summary

Placements24 seeks an Environmental Sanitation Coordinator to join a community development organization in Soweto, Gauteng. You will coordinate sanitation projects, liaise with community leaders and authorities, monitor progress, and ensure efficient use of resources to improve public health.

You will organize fieldwork, maintain records, mentor teams, and prepare regular progress reports. The role requires strong planning, communication, and teamwork, with a willingness to work flexible hours

Qualifications

• A relevant qualification in Environmental Health, Public Health, Social Work, Community Development, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the planning and execution of environmental sanitation projects, such as waste management initiatives, water hygiene programs, and public area cleaning campaigns.
• Liaise effectively with community leaders, residents, and local government bodies to ensure project buy-in and collaboration.
• Develop project work plans, schedules, and resource allocation strategies.
• Monitor the progress of sanitation activities, identifying challenges and implementing timely solutions.
• Ensure compliance with project objectives, timelines, and budgetary constraints.
• Organize and facilitate community awareness programs on hygiene and sanitation practices.
• Maintain accurate records of project activities, expenditures, and outcomes.
• Supervise and provide guidance to community sanitation teams or volunteers as needed.
• Prepare regular progress reports for management and stakeholders.
• Contribute to the evaluation and improvement of sanitation programs based on project results.
