Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a compassionate Community Care Assistant to support individuals in the Soweto community. This hybrid, part-time role focuses on daily living assistance, companionship, and helping clients maintain independence, with some administrative tasks that may be done remotely.

You will build trusted relationships with clients and families, perform personal care tasks, prepare meals, assist with medications, and help with light housekeeping while documenting care records.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Care Assistant, Home Helper, or similar caregiving role.
• Understanding of health, safety and hygiene principles.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with clients.
• Time management and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with personal care tasks (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting).
• Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding as needed.
• Administer prescribed medications and monitor health status.
• Provide light housekeeping and run errands for clients.
• Offer companionship and engage in activities; accompany to appointments.
• Maintain accurate and confidential client care records.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist clients with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.

• Provide light housekeeping duties, laundry, and run errands for clients.
• Offer companionship, engage in conversation, and participate in recreational activities with clients.
• Accompany clients to appointments and community activities.
• Maintain accurate and confidential client care records, both in-person and potentially through remote digital entry.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Care Assistant , Home Helper, or in a similar caregiving role.
• Understanding of basic health, safety, and hygiene principles.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with clients.
• Patience, compassion, and a genuine desire to help others.
• Ability to perform personal care tasks and household chores.
• Reliable and punctual with good time management skills.
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills, with ability to complete simple records.
