Job summary

Placements24 is partnering with a client to hire a Community Advocate for remote work across the Northern Cape, including Kimberley. The role focuses on empowering underserved populations by providing information, resources, and representation to ensure rights and needs are met.

Engagement occurs via digital platforms and occasional local outreach. The successful candidate will work independently and with a remote team to foster resilience and access to services for communities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Law, Public Policy, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of advocacy or community development experience.
• Strong understanding of social justice and rights-based approaches.

Responsibilities

• Inform community members about rights, resources and support services.
• Assist individuals in navigating social services, housing, and legal aid.

Key Responsibilities

• Inform community members about their rights, available resources, and support services.
• Assist individuals and families in navigating complex systems, such as social services, housing applications, and legal aid.
• Facilitate community meetings and workshops to discuss local issues and gather input.
• Advocate on behalf of individuals and groups to ensure equitable access to essential services and opportunities.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, NGOs, and government agencies.
• Document case progress, advocacy efforts, and community feedback accurately for reporting purposes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Law, Public Policy, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in advocacy, community organizing, or social services.
• Strong knowledge of social justice issues, human rights, and community development principles.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, suitable for remote engagement.
• Proficiency in utilizing digital tools for communication, research, and case management.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting, serving the community .
