Job summary

Hitachi Energy South Africa (Pty) Ltd seeks a commissioning lead to drive medium complexity projects from planning through completion on site in Gauteng. You will coordinate installation activities, implement commissioning plans and ensure outcomes meet contract specifications and safety standards.

The role requires travel to client sites, strong English communication, and the ability to mentor junior engineers while delivering cost-effective, high-quality results.

Qualifications

• Ability to explain basic protection/control and measurement principles.
• Able to read and follow scheme drawings and test circuits.
• Strong computer skills to create reports on tested circuits.
• Proficient with Hitachi test equipment software.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement commissioning activities for projects.
• Coordinate installation activities with site team and manage design changes.
• Support contract management and cost/time impact assessments.
• Create work plans and cost estimates within responsibility area.
• Conduct risk and opportunity assessments during commissioning.
• Coordinate customer acceptance and provide solutions for client needs.
• Manage external organizations to ensure availability of equipment/services.
• Share knowledge and provide feedback to improve processes.
• Apply standard safety regulations and contract requirements in all activities.
• Mentor entry level engineers and coordinate small project teams.
