Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and inspections on commercial vehicles, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake checks.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues in diesel engines, transmissions, suspension, and other vehicle systems.
• Utilize diagnostic equipment and tools to identify faults accurately.
• Conduct pre-delivery inspections and PDI checks for new vehicles.
• Repair and replace worn or faulty parts according to manufacturer specifications.
• Ensure all repairs are completed efficiently and to a high standard of quality.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to workshop safety protocols.
• Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
• Communicate effectively with service advisors regarding vehicle issues and repair estimates.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest automotive technologies and repair techniques for commercial vehicles.

Requirements

• Trade qualification as a Diesel Mechanic or equivalent certification.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working as a technician on heavy-duty commercial vehicles.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software relevant to commercial vehicles.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills.
• Valid driver's license (Code 10 or EC) is preferred.
• Experience working in the Stellenbosch or wider Western Cape region is advantageous.
