Responsibilities

• Develop and approve flight plans considering aircraft performance, weather, ATC requirements, and policies.
• Monitor flight progress and provide continuous support to flight crews.
• Analyze meteorological data and forecasts to assess weather-related risks and adjust flight plans.
• Calculate and verify fuel requirements with adequate reserves for all phases and diversions.

About the Role

Our client, a rapidly expanding commercial airline, is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Commercial Aircraft Dispatcher to join their operations center in Centurion, Gauteng. This critical role involves planning and monitoring flight operations to ensure the safety, regularity, and efficiency of all flights. As an Aircraft Dispatcher, you will be the central point of communication for flight crews, providing them with essential information such as weather forecasts, route analysis, and operational updates. You will play a pivotal role in decision-making regarding flight planning, fuel management, and contingency operations. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, is calm under pressure, and has a comprehensive understanding of aviation meteorology and navigation. This is an office-based position, requiring your presence in our client's Centurion facility to manage live flight operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and approve flight plans, considering factors such as aircraft performance, weather conditions, air traffic control requirements, and operational policies.
• Monitor flight progress and provide continuous support to flight crews throughout their journey.
• Analyze meteorological data and forecasts to assess potential weather-related risks and make necessary adjustments to flight plans.
• Calculate and verify fuel requirements, ensuring adequate reserves for all flight phases and potential diversions.
• Coordinate with air traffic control, station operations, maintenance, and other relevant departments to ensure smooth flight operations.
• Issue flight release instructions and necessary operational documents to flight crews.
• Manage and respond to operational irregularities, emergencies, and diversions effectively and efficiently.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date flight logs and operational records.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable aviation regulations and company policies.
• Conduct regular reviews of operational procedures and suggest improvements for efficiency and safety.

Requirements

• Possession of a valid Aircraft Dispatcher License issued by a recognized aviation authority (e.g., SACAA, FAA, EASA).
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Aircraft Dispatcher in a commercial airline environment.
• Strong knowledge of aviation meteorology, navigation principles, and air traffic control procedures.
• Proficiency in flight planning software and operational databases.
• Excellent decision-making skills and the ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey critical information clearly and concisely.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail in managing complex operational data.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by operational needs.
• Based in or able to commute reliably to Centurion, Gauteng.
