Job summary

St Benedict’s College in Gauteng seeks a dedicated College Learning Support Specialist to support learners in Grades 8–12 with numeracy and literacy, and to develop and implement individual support plans. The role requires collaboration with teachers, facilitators and parents, and participation in the school’s wellness team while embracing the Catholic ethos of the school.

The successful candidate will hold a teaching degree with remedial or inclusive education and be professionally registered

Qualifications

• Must possess a teaching degree with remedial or inclusive education.
• Proven experience in diverse learning environments.
• Experience developing and implementing individual support plans.
• Provide numeracy and literacy support to learners in Grades 8–12.
• Participate on school-based support/wellness team.
• Flexible in approach to individual pupil needs.
• Offer guidance to teachers, facilitators and parents.
• Ability to provide individual and group intervention support.
• Offer homework, classwork and study skills support.
• Eagerness to engage in professional development.
• Assist with developing executive functioning skills.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
• Must be SACE registered and uphold Catholic ethos.

Responsibilities

• Provide numeracy and literacy support to learners from Grade 8–12.
• Develop and implement individual support plans for students.
• Collaborate with teachers, facilitators and parents to support learners.
• Deliver both individual and group intervention sessions.
• Provide homework, classwork and study skills support.
• Participate in the school-based support and wellness team.
• Support executive functioning development and study skills.
