Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Professional registration as a Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng with ECSA.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience in structural engineering.
• Proficiency in SAP2000, ETABS, Prokon or similar software.
• Familiarity with SANS and building codes.
• Experience with coastal construction challenges incl. corrosion and wind loading.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for residential, commercial, and public buildings with coastal focus.
• Develop detailed drawings, specifications, and calculations using industry-standard software.
• Conduct site inspections to monitor construction progress and safety compliance.
• Collaborate with architects, geotechnical engineers, and contractors.
• Assess existing structures and recommend remediation or strengthening measures.
• Review and approve shop drawings and material submittals.
