Job summary

BDO in Pretoria seeks an Associate Financial Planner to work with the Executive Director, Financial Planning on a sophisticated client portfolio. You will collaborate in meetings, develop strategies, and carry recommended actions through to implementation.

Ideal candidates have strong technical financial planning knowledge, experience with complex matters, and are willing to travel between Pretoria and Johannesburg to service high-net-worth clients.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years' relevant experience in financial planning.
• Experience handling complex financial planning matters.
• Experience dealing with high-net-worth or similarly complex client relationships.
• Strong technical financial planning knowledge and practical implementation capability.
• Ability to translate client needs into appropriate advice and implement it.
• Strong interpersonal and client relationship skills.
• Willingness to travel regularly between Pretoria and Johannesburg.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside the Executive Director in managing and advising an established portfolio of complex client relationships.
• Participate in client meetings and engagements as a co-financial planner.
• Translate identified client needs into appropriate financial planning strategies, recommendations and actions.
• Take ownership of delegated financial planning work from analysis to implementation.
• Provide technically robust financial planning support across the client relationship.
• Apply strong technical financial planning capability in servicing complex and high-net-worth clients.
• Coordinate and drive the implementation of agreed advice, working with paraplanning and client service resources.
• Develop continuity across advice, implementation and ongoing client engagement, and grow responsibility over time.
