Job summary

Rheinmetall Denel Munition is hiring a skilled CNC operator and presetter in Gauteng. You will set up tooling, verify CNC programs, run first-offs with Production, and hand over machines with verified sizes.

You will also troubleshoot defects, contribute to tooling trials and drive process improvements to shorten cycle times. The role requires a recognized trade qualification and at least 3 years in CNC operation, with strong problem-solving, communication and analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Recognized trade qualification as a Fitter and Turner, Toolmaker, or Machinist.
• At least 3 years CNC machine operation and setting in an engineering environment.
• Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and achieve targets
• Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to demonstrate judgement and initiative.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and ability to interact with people at all levels.
• Analytical thinker with good reasoning skills.
• Ability to work precisely and methodically with minimum supervision

Responsibilities

• Install and setup required tooling in machine as per setup sheet
• Install and check correct CNC program is installed as per setup sheet and drawing
• Run 1st off with Production and confirm sizes as per procedure
• Handover machine
• Check accuracy and malfunctions
• Assist production with machining defects in respect to program and tooling
• Determine root cause of issues and correct
• Assist in machining tooling
• Assist in machining trail / development components
• Assist in reworking of defective components
• Implement improvement ideas in pre-setting process
• Improve machining methods and cycle times
• Run tooling trails
