Job summary

iStaff Recruitment is seeking a skilled systems engineer in Pretoria to modernise legacy Microsoft Access data into a cloud-based SQL solution. The role focuses on developing and maintaining applications with Supabase, PostgreSQL, and API integrations.

Applicants should have strong experience in authentication, permissions, testing and deployment, plus hands-on use of AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate delivery.

Qualifications

• Strong SQL, PostgreSQL and relational DB design experience.
• Experience with Supabase or similar cloud backend.
• Web app development and API integration experience.
• Experience migrating data from Microsoft Access or similar legacy systems.
• Experience with authentication, permissions, testing and deployment.
• Practical experience using AI-assisted coding/development tools.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and business-process skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical users.
• Able to give examples of systems you have developed or contributed to.

Responsibilities

• Assess and replace the existing Microsoft Access system with a modern SQL/cloud-based solution.
• Develop and maintain applications using Supabase, PostgreSQL and SQL.
• Design databases, relationships, workflows, reports, dashboards and business rules.
• Develop or integrate APIs and implement authentication, permissions and security.
• Use Git/GitHub and development standards.
• Use AI-assisted development tools effectively and responsibly.
