Job summary

Express Employment Professionals (VAAL) is seeking a Systems Developer and Implementation Specialist for a 6-month fixed-term contract in South Africa. The role focuses on replacing a legacy Microsoft Access system, continuing Supabase-based development, data migration, testing and roll-out, plus staff training.

Qualifications

• Practical SQL, PostgreSQL and relational database design experience. Experience with Supabase or a comparable cloud backend platform. Web application development and API integration experience.
• Experience migrating data from Microsoft Access or similar legacy systems. Practical experience with AI-assisted or Vibe Coding tools such as Lovable, Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT.
• Experience with authentication, permissions, testing, deployment and reporting. Strong business-process analysis, communication and user-training skills.
• Experience developing inventory, warehouse, asset-management, field-service, job-management or ERP-related solutions will be highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Legacy System Replacement: document existing workflows, design replacement database and app architecture, migrate data, and implement security and audit trails.
• Operational Platform Development: extend the Supabase-based platform with inventory, asset management, and job-management modules.
• Database and Application Development: build PostgreSQL structures, with authentication, permissions, and APIs; manage code with Git.
• Business Process and Solution Design: map workflows, prototype automation, and productionize features.
• Testing Implementation and Rollout: perform functional, data, and user acceptance testing and rollout modules to departments.
• Training and Documentation: create user guides and maintain source code repositories and admin docs.
