Placements24 seeks a Cloud Security Specialist to design, implement and manage security controls across AWS, Azure and GCP. You will enforce policies, perform vulnerability scans and support DevSecOps in CI/CD pipelines while ensuring IAM and data protection are robust.

The role is remote with national scope and a focus on protecting digital assets. Applicants should have 3+ years in cloud security or 5+ years in information security with cloud exposure, plus hands-on cloud platform experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, InfoSec or related field.
• 3+ years in cloud security or 5+ years in information security with cloud exposure.
• Hands-on AWS/Azure/GCP security experience.
• CI/CD security integration (DevSecOps) experience.
• ISO 27001 / SOC 2 knowledge.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client, a global leader in renewable energy solutions, is looking for a talented Cloud Security Specialist to join their expanding IT department. This role will focus on designing, implementing, and managing security controls for their cloud infrastructure across various platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP. The Cloud Security Specialist will be responsible for identifying and mitigating cloud‑specific security risks, ensuring compliance, and supporting the secure deployment of cloud‑based applications and services. This position is vital for protecting our client's digital assets and intellectual property in the rapidly evolving cloud landscape. The role requires deep expertise in cloud security principles and practices and is based remotely, supporting operations that include Richards Bay, KwaZulu‑Natal, ZA.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage security solutions for cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Develop and enforce cloud security policies, standards, and best practices.
• Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans of cloud infrastructure and applications.
• Implement and manage cloud security tools such as CASB, WAF, and cloud‑native security services.
• Monitor cloud environments for security threats, anomalies, and policy violations, responding to incidents as needed.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and data protection standards within the cloud.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate security into CI/CD pipelines (DevSecOps).
• Manage identity and access management (IAM) for cloud resources.
• Stay up‑to‑date with the latest cloud security threats, vulnerabilities, and emerging technologies.
• Provide guidance and support on cloud security best practices to internal teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience specifically in cloud security, or 5+ years in general information security with significant cloud exposure.
• Hands‑on experience with security features and services in AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Proficiency in cloud security architecture, IAM, network security (VPCs, security groups), and data protection.
• Experience with container security (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
• Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance requirements (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2).
• Scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation of security tasks.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a distributed team.
• Relevant cloud security certifications such as AWS Certified Security – Specialty, Azure Security Engineer Associate, or Google Professional Cloud Security Engineer are highly desirable.
