Job summary

J2K Consulting (Pty) Ltd seeks a skilled Cloud Architect to design, implement, and maintain cloud-based solutions aligned with business goals. The role focuses on Azure or AWS, security, performance, and cost efficiency in a Financial Services context.

The candidate should have Microsoft Azure and AWS expertise, with hands-on experience in migration, automation, and infrastructure as code, plus ITIL familiarity and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• IT qualification coupled with over 4 years of experience focusing on Microsoft Azure and AWS.
• ≈3 years of experience designing and supporting Microsoft Azure environments (IaaS & PaaS).
• Certified as a Microsoft Azure/AWS Solutions Architect.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud services (compute, storage, networking, security).
• Strong understanding of cloud-native technologies, containers, microservices, serverless computing, and DevOps practices.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Go for automation and scripting tasks.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Act as the SME for cloud infrastructure construction and migration solution design.
• Lead modernization and migration efforts for on-premises workloads to the cloud.
• Build and manage cloud and hybrid solutions, specifically in Microsoft Azure or AWS.
• Demonstrate understanding of enterprise IT strategies and concepts.
• Prioritize and execute tasks under high-pressure conditions.
• Spearhead development of resilient cloud hosting architectures.
• Implement industry best practices and frameworks for service controls.
• Manage technical documentation, including bulletins and release notes.
• Collaborate with management to identify areas for improvement, enhancing environment integrity.
• Take ownership of technical cases, including escalation and resolution.
• Provision, configure, and maintain cloud computing services.
• Implement Cloud Adoption Frameworks and familiarity with ITIL methodologies.
• Work knowledge of data privacy, security practices and laws.
• Optimize performance and capacity planning for virtualized environments.
• Knowledge of SAN storage and backup administration.
• Familiarity with cloud security concepts.
• Strong understanding of ICT technologies.
• Support Microsoft technologies (Windows Server, AD, RD Services, SQL, IIS, DNS, DHCP).
• Expertise in Cloud Hosting Platforms, App Modernization, and Automation across Web, APIs, Databases, and OSs.

The Cloud Architect will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-based solutions that align with the organization's strategic goals and objectives. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of cloud technologies, security protocols, and industry best practices, with a focus on optimizing performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for cloud infrastructure construction and cloud migration solution design

• Possess knowledge and hands-on experience in building and managing cloud and hybrid solutions, specifically in Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS)
