Job summary

Department of Health in Edenvale Regional Hospital is seeking a cleaning supervisor with at least three years of hospital cleaning experience to lead a team and ensure high cleanliness standards.

The role requires Grade 10 with Grade 12 as an added advantage, the ability to work under pressure, and willingness to cover shifts including weekends and public holidays. Enquiries: Ms. N Tata at Edenvale Regional Hospital.

Qualifications

• Grade 10 or equivalent; Grade 12 will be an added advantage.
• A minimum of three years’ experience in cleaning service, hospital/clinical environment preferred.
• Basic understanding of Policies, Batho Pele Principles, Patient Rights Charter, Occupational Health and Safety, Six Priorities and National Core Standards.
• Ability to work under pressure, communicate well, work independently and in a team, and supervise tasks.

Responsibilities

• Supervise cleaning staff and assign daily schedules.
• Train staff on cleaning standards and procedures to ensure compliance.
• Monitor daily performance and ensure adherence to schedules and checklists.
• Conduct walkabouts and inspections and report challenges to management.
• Manage cleaning chemicals, equipment, stock and safe storage; ensure infection control.

Cleaning in hospital/Clinical environment will serve as an added advantage. Be prepared to work shifts including weekends and public holiday.

Duties :

• Supervise the work of subordinates and ensure that high standards of cleaning are attained. Assign schedules and duties to cleaning staff daily. Train subordinates on cleaning standards and procedures to ensure compliance. Monitor daily performances of all cleaning staff. Ensure that cleaning schedules and check lists are implemented and cleaners are compliant. Ensure that walkabouts and inspections are done daily and submit challenges or incidents reports to the manager. Ensure that cleaning personnel perform required duties, appropriate cleaning procedures are being rendered, and quality control measures are continually maintained. Management of human resource (PMDS, Leaves, approving of overtime claims and submit to Human Resource. Compile weekly and monthly reports) Order and receive stock and store cleaning material safely. Management of cleaning chemicals and cleaning equipment. Management and daily issues of cleaning chemicals. Ensure adherence to official hours and attendance. Ensure management of prevention and infection control. Ensure proper segregation of waste. Ensure all staff adheres to utilizing and wearing of personal. Develop yearly leave plans to ensure that the absenteeism rate is kept to a minimum. Perform any other work-related instructions
