Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Civil Design Engineer specializing in transportation to join a reputable civil engineering consultancy in Mahikeng, North West. You will design and plan road projects, intersections, and drainage, collaborating with senior engineers to deliver safe and sustainable infrastructure.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of 5 years’ experience in civil transportation design, a BEng/BSc in Civil Engineering, and proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D or Infroad.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in civil transportation design.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Infroad, or similar software.
• Strong knowledge of road design, geometric design and traffic engineering.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed road design drawings including horizontal and vertical alignment.
• Conduct geometric design of roads, intersections, and interchanges.
• Design drainage, earthworks, and surfacing for transportation projects.
• Use civil design software to produce drawings and models.
• Assist in project reports, feasibility studies, and tenders.
• Ensure designs comply with SANS standards and local authority rules.
• Coordinate with project managers and stakeholders.
• Support site supervision and respond to contractor queries.
• Maintain project documentation and design records.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes.
