Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer specializing in Water Resources Management to join their Upington-based team. The role focuses on sustainable water infrastructure development, flood control, and water security amid arid conditions, offering meaningful impact and professional growth.

The ideal candidate will have 8+ years in water resources engineering, Pr Eng registration with ECSA, and hands-on experience with HEC-RAS, EPANET, and MIKE suite.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources or Hydrology.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in water resources engineering and management.
  • Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is required.
  • Proficiency in hydrological and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, EPANET, MIKE suite).
  • Strong understanding of water resource policy, legislation, and sustainable practices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies for sustainable water resources management, including supply and demand planning.
  • Design and oversee the construction of water infrastructure such as dams, canals, pipelines, and water treatment facilities.
  • Conduct hydrological and hydraulic modeling to assess water availability, flood risks, and environmental flows.
  • Prepare feasibility studies, environmental impact assessments, and technical reports for water-related projects.
  • Collaborate with government agencies, agricultural stakeholders, and community groups on water management initiatives.
