Job summary

iX engineers (Pty) Ltd. seeks an experienced Civil Engineer to lead feasibility studies, design, and implementation of bulk water infrastructure. You will perform hydraulic modelling, prepare proposals, and manage project deliverables while ensuring HSE compliance.

Requirements include a BEng/BSc in Civil Engineering and ECSA Pr Eng registration, with at least 5 years in water projects and strong leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Mandatory BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering and ECSA Pr Eng registration.
• Minimum 5 years' postgraduate civil engineering experience in water.
• Experience in delivering multidisciplinary water infrastructure projects.

• Lead feasibility studies, conceptual and detailed design, and implementation of bulk water infrastructure projects, including pipelines, pump stations, reservoirs, intake structures, and water resource systems.
• Perform advanced hydraulic modelling using Civil 3D IDAS and transient/surge analyses using KY Pipe.
• Prepare and lead technical proposals and tender submissions for complex water projects.
• Manage project deliverables and ensure alignment with client requirements and project objectives.
• Oversee health, safety, and environmental (HSE) risk identification and mitigation during design and construction.
• Drive design improvements to enhance cost efficiency, material optimisation, and project delivery.
• Provide technical guidance, supervision, and mentorship to junior engineers, technicians, and draughtsmen.

Education & Experience

• Experience delivering multidisciplinary water infrastructure projects.
• Proven track record in the design and delivery of civil water-related engineering projects.

Skills & Knowledge

• Strong technical expertise in water engineering design and project execution.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Experience with KY Pipe software is advantageous.
• Sound knowledge of hydraulic modelling and surge analysis.
• Strong understanding of engineering standards, codes of practice, and quality assurance principles.
• Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
