About the Role

Our client is looking for a proactive Civil Engineer to focus on Site Development for their East London office. This role operates under a hybrid model, combining remote work with essential in-office presence. You will be responsible for the design and planning of land development projects, including site grading, drainage, utility connections, and road access. This is an excellent opportunity for a developing engineer to contribute to key local developments and expand their expertise.

Key Responsibilities

Design site layouts, grading plans, and stormwater management systems for residential, commercial, and industrial developments. Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents using CAD software. Perform hydrological and hydraulic calculations for drainage and utility systems. Coordinate with clients, architects, surveyors, and local authorities throughout the design and approval process. Ensure compliance with local zoning ordinances, building codes, and environmental regulations. Conduct site visits to monitor progress and address design-related issues during construction. Assist in preparing cost estimates and project schedules. Collaborate with the project team in a hybrid work environment. Maintain accurate project records and documentation.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. A minimum of 3 years of experience in site development, land development, or related civil engineering fields. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D for site design and drafting. Understanding of grading, drainage, utility design, and South African land development regulations. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to manage tasks and responsibilities effectively in a hybrid work setting. Resident in or willing to commute to East London for required office days.
