Job summary

Exxaro Resources is seeking a Civil Engineer for a 2-year fixed-term role at Matla Coal in Kriel, Mpumalanga. You will design, develop, and manage civil projects, perform site inspections, and prepare plans and cost estimates.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safety, environmental and legal compliance within SA coal mining. Responsibilities include budgeting, mentorship to junior staff, and ensuring timely delivery of infrastructure projects such as roads and drainage.

Qualifications

• 5+ years operational experience in Civil Design and Maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of South African civil engineering standards, codes and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and oversee civil projects within Matla Coal unit per standards and specs.
• Conduct site inspections and monitor safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
• Prepare detailed plans and cost estimates for roads, drainage, and related works.
• Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and engineers to deliver on contract timelines.
• Ensure compliance with legal and environmental regulations in Mpumalanga and SA mining.
