Job summary

Redstone Search Group in Johannesburg leads the chrome trading desk and seeks a seasoned Chrome Trader to manage the South African chrome supply book. You will source chrome ore and concentrate, build strong mine and processor relationships, and negotiate commercially favorable terms.

Ideal candidates have deep knowledge of chrome ore specs, an extensive SA regional network, and the ability to operate autonomously in a fast-moving trading environment. Reports to CEO.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' relevant experience with direct commercial exposure to the chrome ore market in South Africa (and Zimbabwe where possible).
• Strong commercial, trading and negotiation skills with a proven track record of securing supply and closing deals.
• Established network across the South Africa chrome supply market (mines, processors, producers).
• Ability to operate autonomously in a fast-moving trading environment.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of developing and managing the South African chrome supply book, building strong relationships with mines, processors and other supply-side partners.
• Source and secure chrome ore and concentrate from existing and new producers across Southern Africa.
• Negotiate pricing, supply contracts and terms to balance margin with reliability and continuity of supply.
• Maintain market intelligence on chrome industry pricing, capacity, specs, logistics and competitors.

Redstone Search Group are working with a growing minerals trading house looking to hire a Chrome Traderto join their expanding chrome business based in South Africa.

Key Responsibilities / Tasks

• Take ownership of developing and managing the South African chrome supply book, building strong relationships with mines, processors and other supply-side partners.
• Source and secure chrome ore and concentrate from existing and new producers across Southern Africa, identifying commercially attractive supply opportunities.
• Negotiate pricing, supply contracts and commercial terms, balancing margin generation with reliability and continuity of supply.
• Maintain strong market intelligence across the South African chrome industry, including pricing, producer capacity, product specifications, logistics constraints and competitor activity.
• Identify and develop new supply-side projects and direct mine partnerships, working alongside trading, logistics and finance teams to structure and execute transactions.
• Role reports to CEO.

Key Qualifications / Experience

• Minimum 5 years' relevant experience, with direct commercial exposure to the chrome ore market with local South African and ideally also Zimbabwe experience.
• Deep technical and commercial knowledge of chrome ore and concentrate, including grades, specifications and different ore types.
• An established network and strong relationships across the South African chrome supply market, particularly with mines, producers and processors.
• Strong commercial, trading and negotiation skills, with a demonstrable track record of securing supply and closing deals on favourable terms.
• Experience with mining, processing, offtake or supply-side projects is advantageous, alongside the ability to operate autonomously in a fast-moving trading environment.
