Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Social Worker specializing in Child and Family Services in Tembisa, Gauteng. The role centers on case management, counseling, and connecting families with community resources to promote well‑being and safety.

The ideal candidate holds a BSW/MSW and SACSSP registration with at least 3 years in child welfare, offering risk assessments, home visits, and collaboration with community partners within the Gauteng region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
• Registered with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in child welfare or family services.
• Knowledge of child protection laws and community resources.
• Excellent assessment, intervention and crisis management skills.
• Proficiency in report writing and maintaining confidential client records.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of child and family needs, risks, and protective factors.
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized service plans for clients.
• Provide counseling and therapeutic interventions to children and families.
• Facilitate referrals to community resources such as housing assistance, mental health services, and educational programs.
• Conduct home visits and engage with families in their environment to assess safety and provide support.
• Maintain accurate and timely case documentation in compliance with agency policies and legal requirements.
